Haugesund Look to Bounce Back in Fortress as Hodd Visit Haugesund Sparebank Arena
There are few more reliable sights in Norwegian second-tier football this season than Haugesund at home. On Sunday afternoon at Haugesund Sparebank Arena, the league’s most potent attack welcomes a Hodd side that has found life on the road a struggle, and the hosts will be eager to wipe away the memory of a chastening afternoon in Eliteserien-chasing territory.
A Bruising Week, But a Formidable Home Record
Haugesund arrive having been beaten 5-0 at Stromsgodset last Sunday, only their second heavy defeat of a campaign that has otherwise been dominated by wins. Context matters, though: before that setback, they had put three past Lyn, drawn at Sandnes ULF and beaten Stabaek and Strommen. Across 27 games they have won 19, scoring 78 goals at an average of 2.9 per match.
The numbers at home are the real story. Eleven wins from 13, just one defeat, 40 goals scored and only 13 conceded. Five clean sheets have been kept in front of their own supporters, and they have never once failed to score at Haugesund Sparebank Arena. The 7-2 demolition of an opponent earlier in the year is the high-water mark, and the hosts tend to turn the screw late, with nearly a quarter of their goals arriving between the 61st and 75th minutes.
Hodd’s Road Problem
Hodd sit with 11 wins, five draws and 11 defeats, and the split between home and away tells you plenty. At home they average 2.1 goals a game; on their travels that drops to 1.4, with just three away wins all season and four matches in which they failed to score. Defensively they have shipped 30 goals on the road, including a 6-0 hammering, and they are especially vulnerable late on, conceding more than a quarter of their goals in the final 15 minutes.
There are encouraging signs, however. Their 5-1 win over Raufoss last Sunday showed what they can do when things click, and they drew with Ranheim in midweek. But sandwiched around those results were defeats at Egersund and Kongsvinger, a reminder of how inconsistent their form has been.
What History Says
The only meeting between these sides this season went firmly Haugesund’s way, a 2-0 away victory in April. That result fits the broader pattern: Haugesund have the better attack, the sturdier home record and a habit of finishing games strongly. Even their penalty record is flawless, six taken and six scored.
The Verdict
Haugesund will be stung by last weekend and keen to respond in front of their own crowd. Hodd’s fragile away form and late-game leakiness play right into the hosts’ strengths. If the home side start as they often do, with 13 of their goals coming inside the opening quarter-hour, this could be a long afternoon for the visitors. Expect goals, and expect Haugesund Sparebank Arena to be rocking by full time.
Kickoff: Sunday, 25 October 2026, 14:30 (Oslo time).
